The Ergonomic Pen!

Show of hands, how many of you use a pen on a daily basis? If you're hand is not up then you my friend need to stay off the computer! (Okay don't because then you couldn't read our reviews and well... we'd miss you greatly!)  Seriously though I didn't think I used a pen a lot during the day especially as a SAHM (stay-at-home mom)  but I do!! Those lovely things called bills that require the ancient form of payment known as the check, making the grocery list, these all found me reaching for a pen!

I was very happy to be able to review this ergonomic pen for you all, but for my family to test drive it too!

I won't keep you waiting any longer...

The UGLee Pen retails for $19.99 for a 3pk on their website and comes in a variety of colors! (Clicking website will take you to their online store to order!) Plus it has refillable 1.4mm ink too (yay for being reusable)!

Alright, now do NOT take its name and twist it.  It is the UGLee Pen not an ugly pen!  This is another do not judge a book by its cover nor its title review!

The UGLee Pen was created by Dr. James Lee while he was in Medical School after trying to find a pen that wouldn't fatigue his hand while writing!

This is an ergonomic pen that is so light weight (seriously it weighs less than 1/2 an OUNCE) you probably will forget you're holding it! It is probably the most light weight pen I've held.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the package is this pens grip! It is very squishy and feels 'sticky' as in its not going to slip off your fingers while you're holding it!
It has fingertip grooves for STRESS FREE writing!  We all remember in school (before the age of computers running the world) having to write 5+ page papers right? Remember how your finger would start to hurt from holding the pen, well I doubt that issue would arise with this particular pen!

I teach my Goofy Goobers at home and the oldest is learning to write words and perfect her penmanship so I gave her this pen to try out too!  She had been having problems with other pens slipping (she has the yucky sweaty hand thing many kids have going on!) so she was very happy to be given a special pen to use! I am happy to report that when she used this pen her words were a bit more legible and she had no problems holding this pen CORRECTLY!

I found this pen to write fairly smooth while I was using it too!

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I give the UGLee Pen a 9.
Pros:  Its an ergonomic pen! My husband has wrist pains from work and has since switched over to ergonomically correct devices on his desk, he was happy to include this pen too! I like that the pen does have a grip that does seem to grip you while you write, it gets a bonus point on this for my Goober being able to use this too! REFILLABLE need I say more on that aspect?! We all have had that 1 pen we LOVE only to find its a one time deal and you have to toss it when you're done!
Cons:  I found one of the pens would skip on occasion, it is NOT the fault of the pen, it could very well just be the ink or the surface I was writing on, since it was only just the one pen that had this issue.
_________________________________________________________________
So my final thoughts on this pen are simple.  Its a nice pen! The UGLee Pen has a nice grip the easily fits multiple sized hands with no problems, your hand doesn't move around while your writing with it.  My Goofy Goober especially liked that the grip has sparkles in it!  I honestly have nothing bad to say about it!

*PLEASE NOTE: While I received these pens FREE for review, the opinions on this pen are ENTIRELY mine and not influenced in any way by anyone!*

ENTER THE GIVEAWAY TODAY for a 3 pack of these pens! Colors will be random and will ship to you from UGLee Pen on Dec 26.a Rafflecopter giveaway

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

YES bigger IS always better!

I was recently given the pleasure of reviewing ANOTHER Love with Food box!! This time they sent the Deluxe box! (Oh be still my heart!) I am a total foodie! I admit it, I LOVE to snack all day, yes all day I am a total grazer... some people eat regular meals while I find myself continuously eating! So now you know a bit more about why I like finding these new snack options! Healthy snacks vs junk food will win over in this house especially if they taste like the junk food!  I won't keep you waiting anymore!

Love with Food Deluxe Box: Monthly $19.95, 6 months $108 ($18 a month) 1 year $204 ($17 a month)
Love with Food helps you discover new all-natural or organic snacks that you'll love! Each month they will send you a curated box of unique, hard-to-find, snacks right to your front door! You can review the snacks you get each month to earn points, you can redeem your points for items in their store! BONUS for every box you get in the mail, you are also donating a meal to food banks like Feeding America Network or Share Our Strength - No Kid Hungry! So you're helping to end childhood hunger!

How pretty was this red box under our Christmas tree?! I mean seriously getting this box was like Christmas!
(okay, this may just be me, but I LOVE their red box!)

Inside the Flavors of Fall box!

Everything inside (ready to drool?!)
Here is a break down of what this box included!
Tuxedo Popcorn from Kukuruza (caramel popcorn drizzled with chocolate!)
Green & Black's Organic Dark 70% Chocolates (see photo below!)
Maple Fudge from Laura Secord
Ginger Twist Tea from Mighty Leaf
Almond, Apricot, and Yogurt Bar from Eat Natural
Rosemary and Pink Sea Salt Shortbread Cookies from Dancing Bear Baking Co.
Sweet Corn Crunch from Sensible Foods
Authentic Indian spice blend from Arora Creations
Sweet Potato popchips from popchips
And of course coupons and discount codes!

Without hesitation we dove right into this box! Everything looked so good we weren't quite sure what to eat first! (Don't you hate when that happens!) I'll start with the popchips because they were by far my favorite!  I was a popchip virgin (gasp, I know!) but after trying these Sweet Potato popchips from this box I will be a forever fan of them! So good! Seriously, if you haven't tried them you are missing out!

All the snacks in this box were quite yummy!  The Sweet Corn Crunch from Sensible Foods was interesting! I was expecting it to be crunchy like a corn nut type deal, however they are NOT anything like those! Again, very yummy!

Do you like dark chocolate? These Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolates are just for you then!
I love all things chocolate, however these were some seriously DARK chocolate candies! Which is fine! I mean they're organic dark chocolate! My husband loved them, while I found them bitter, but dark chocolate can be that way! Nothing to do with the brand, just the nature of dark chocolate!

So all in all this Deluxe Love with Food box was really nice!  The value to quality was spot on in my opinion.

On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I'd give this sub box an 8.5
I do feel this box IS better than their Tasting box because you get more!! (however, nothing is wrong with the Tasting box!) There are a bunch of health food snack box options out there now.  They all have good and bad about them, I DON'T see anything horrible to report on this company! (Yay right!!)  Having seen both their box options now I can objectively say they don't disappoint!

* PLEASE NOTE: While I was given this box for free to review, the opinions in my review are mine alone and I was not paid to give a positive review!*

Are you in LOVE WITH FOOD?

I was recently given the opportunity to review the subscription box Love With Food! Some of you know that one of my Goofy Goobers has a diet we try our best to follow that is mainly All-Natural and Organic foods, so I was excited to get this box for review!

When you subscribe to Love With Food you will discover new Organic, All-Natural snacks delivered right to your front door as an added bonus for every box they send out they DONATE a meal to a hungry child! (yay for giving back right!)

Love with food has 2 box options: Tasting Box starting at $12/month and the new Deluxe Box starting at $19.95/month.
With the Tasting Box you get 8+ snacks each month, and the Deluxe Box you get 16-20 snacks, plus they donate 2 meals with the Deluxe box! They also have the option to purchase 6 and 12 month subscriptions to each box!

Another VERY nice aspect to this box is snacks are Organic, All-Natural, GMO-FREE, Gluten FREE, or free of all artificial JUNK.  (see why I was SO excited for our Goofy Goober to try this box too, it fits her dietary needs to the max!)

So here is what you see when it arrives! I love that this box stands out in the mail box! A red box means yummies!

Even the inside of the box was thought of when it came to design!

Everything that was inside Octobers Love With Food box

Included was:
Chocolate Pizzelle Crisps from Silk City Snacks
Glee Gum, Triple Berry flavor from Verve Inc
New World Caveman Cookies by Caveman Bakery (these were delish!)
Organic Hard Candies from Torie & Howard
Pixo Pearls from Vinaigerie Gingras
Happy Squeeze from Happy Family
Toasted Coconut Chips from Dang (these were really yummy too!)
Kind Bars from Kind Snacks (again delish!)

Also included were coupons and a description card of everything inside this months box!

We tried everything in this box, I mean everything!  There wasn't a snack we didn't enjoy! Our oldest Goofy Goober really enjoyed them all too! I finally felt happy with allowing her to try packaged snacks again with this box BECAUSE of what they were!

These stood out to us, I can't wait to use the Pixo Pearls and the Caveman Cookies were SO good!

I'm happy to say they have a promotion going on! Want to hear about it?! Of course you do!
If you use the PROMO CODE: FESTIVE2013 you get $5.00 off a Love With Food subscription! (Valid until 12.1.2013) ALSO, if you purchase a 6 or 12 month subscription they're adding a 2 YEAR subscription to Rachael Ray magazine! The magazine deal is also good if you are a current monthly subscriber and you switch to the 6 or 12 month plans!
(Special offer details can be seen here.)

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I would give this box a 9

Pros: Everything is either Organic, All-Natural, GMO-free, Gluten free.... which again in our house is extremely important!  I love that I can feel comfortable letting my kids snack on these!
With the 2 year subscription to Rachael Ray Every Day magazine promo going until 12.1.13 its an added bonus!
Cons: Like with any food subscription box service you may not always LOVE what comes in the box.  Its a 50/50 toss if you will enjoy that snack or not, HOWEVER you will never know you don't like something unless you try!

Drum roll please..... Introducing the Quilty Box!

Hello again Three Little Goofy Goober readers! Its time for our next review!   This one is a fun one if you're a creative soul!

The Quilty Box is relatively new to the subscription box scene... and well, let me tell you a bit about the company before we go into our photos and review (no peaking!)

Get Surprised...Get Inspired...Get Quilty!

Quilty Box delivers a package of amazing products each month curated with the coolest fabric companies, designers, bloggers, artists, and organizations across the community.
Quilty Box is your monthly muse to keep you growing and creating.
How it works: You pick your subscription 1,3,6,12 months and boxes start at $38.95 + shipping! Oh an important and cool fact is that 5% of the proceeds from Multi-Month Subscriptions are donated to Quilts for Kids!
Okay, I know what you might be thinking $38.95+ shipping of $5.95 seems steep but please WAIT to judge until you see what they include!
Ready, set, here we go!
This is what you see when you get it in the mail! By the way I received the October box, and Octobers theme was geometry! (yeah each month is a different theme!!)

I was excited to open it up!!

Everything that was inside Octobers box!

Let me break this down for you!
Sidekick Ruler By Jaybird Quilts $17.95
Minimalista by Art Gallery Fabrics Fat Eight Bundle $11.50
Rock Candy Table Topper Pattern by Jaybird Quilts $6.95
Aurifil 50wt. Cotton Mako Thread $7.90 (two spools that coordinate with the fabric!)
Jeanna Kimball's Foxglove Cottage Sharps Needle Sampler $1.95
Custom Fabric Label by Jennifer's Jewels $1.25
Arrow Pin by Art School Dropout $7.50 (there was also an arrow one sent out)
Geometric Paper Piecing Pattern by Art School Dropout $2.75 (I didn't receive this item because it is a PDF file that was emailed to you on the day your box is shipped! It contained a simple and awesome pattern to get you going!)

Total Retail Value: $57.75!!!

A close up of the pretty fabrics!

I LOVE this pin! The colors on it are so eye catching its really cool!

Okay, so remember when I said do not judge this box price until you have seen the total value of the items in it?!  Now feel free to judge! (be nice though! never judge a book by its cover... or in this case a subscription box by its price!)
This box has an incredible Value/Quality ratio! Plus you get a new project each month to do when you have the time... or for you snow birds save them all up for the winter and have a fun winter of sewing while its snowing!!

I will admit I have not had the time to complete the project (I've been quilting up a storm to finish blankets for family) but this is next up on my sewing list!

*DISCLOSURE: While this box was sent to me to review, the opinions on it are all my own, in no way was I forced or encouraged to give it a good review!*

So on a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I'm happy to give this box an 8.5-9 (I can't decide!)
Pros: They send you really interesting projects!  If you buy a Multi-Month Subscription they donate 5% to Quilts for Kids (yay for companies who give back!) This particular theme was very bright and fun!
Cons:  The price yeah I'll admit a few of you may be put off by the price!  I get that, however if you love sewing/quilting and are looking for a new project but don't have the time to go piece everything together on your own try out the Quilty Box as I said before, the retail value far exceeded what you pay!

Are you getting ready for the BIG Thanksgiving meal?

I love sharing new things with readers! I also really enjoy cooking, just not the dishes after! ha We had a Facebook fan share a recipe with us and we are sharing it with all of you!    Spreading the love!

Southern-Style Green Beans with Bacon and New Potatoes

Ingredients

4 slices bacon, cut into thirds
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 pounds fresh green beans, ends trimmed
8 small new potatoes, halved if large
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

In a large saucepan or medium Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium heat until it has rendered most of its fat and has begun to brown, about 5 minutes. Add the onion and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the green beans and potatoes and enough water to just cover them. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Season with salt and pepper, to taste, then cover the pan and simmer until the beans are very tender, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally and adding more water if necessary to keep the beans covered. As the beans get close to being done they will become quite fragile, so take care when stirring.

Appleseed Lane review

I spent this Veterans Day morning doing the latest review box we received!  It was Appleseed Lane and my goodness did my Goofy Goobers LOVE it!  So here is the inside scoop!
Appleseed Lane is a monthly subscription box company (you can pay 1 month $23, 6 months $21 a month or yearly at $19 a month) They also have this amazing option to add a sibling add on to the box for $9.95! (please note the sibling add on prince drops to $8.95 for the 6 month, and $7.95 for yearly subs)

"Spark a lifelong love of learning with fun and engaging boxes filled with science experiments and lesson-based crafts sent directly to your door each month! Geared toward kids ages 4 to 10...fun for everyone!"

I was searching for a box for our oldest Goofy Goober (she is 6 years old) a lot of the child geared boxes are too baby-ish for her so I ran with a suggestion for Appleseed Lane and am SO happy I did!  Each box comes with EVERYTHING you need, seriously everything, and its all labeled too!!
Here is what showed up at my door:
side note here but I think this box design is super cute!!

The inside of the box:
As you can see our theme this month was Crime Scene Science!

As I mentioned before, they send you EVERYTHING you need to do these experiments:
(told you!)

Okay so, inside this box were activities for your Goofy Goobers to find out who stole the cookie from the cookie jar! A cute story line follows you along as you discover new clues by decoding messages, finding messages written with invisible ink with UV lights, casting molds of 'footprints or in this case your hand' matching fingerprints (including discovering what type of fingerprint pattern you have!) and then appearing colors... Seriously it made for a FUN morning! I am SO happy with this box and its one I will find a way to fit into our monthly budget because not only did the mini Goobers enjoy it but us older Goobers rather enjoyed watching them learn and discover new things too!

So on a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I happily give this subscription box an 8 1/2.  I felt my money was very well spent on this box!
Pros: You learn as you go! Everything is included in the box! The fact you can add a sibling to the box is a huge plus since we have multiple Goofy Goobers its nice to not have to pay for 2 boxes when you just need the supplies! (I give high fives for companies who think of this!)
Cons: It was over too soon! ha ha!

*please note these opinions are all my own, and I was not paid for them, I purchased this box for my own use and was not given it for review purposes!*

Have you tried out Graze?

Alright the wait is over time for more reviews! We took a bit of a break to deal with some health issues and now that things have settled down, well, be on the look out for tons of cool stuff!

Next up is the subscription box Graze.   It is an invite only subscription service that sends you 4 snacks every 2 weeks for the LOW price of $6.00 USD every 2 weeks.  Yup. I said 6 bucks!  In each box you will find single serving sized snacks that are sure to please!  If you like what they send you then log into your account with them and click the following options 'try, like, love, trash'  (please note you can do this BEFORE they even send you anything if you already know you do not want something.. your ratings on food determine what they send you and how often they'll send that food!)  This is our 2nd Graze box and we love it!  I will be keeping this subscription forever!

So I asked do you Graze? If not, you may want to try them out!  This company uses recycled products for packaging, donates to Charity and well... I can't find a lot of bad about them!

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I happily give this box an 8.
I would rate it higher if you got more of the snack, however I am a "snacker" and love to eat more than I probably should ha ha, but hey for 6 bucks you get a variety of healthy snacks to try out!  I waste that or more at the checkout on impulse items so I see it as money well spent!

Have you ever tried this sub box? Or is there a subscription box you want to know more about lemme know!

Do you Monster?

Busy moms like myself and many others love doing craft projects and activities with our minis!  However finding the time to piece together everything you need for the craft in advance is sometimes impossible am I right?  When I started putting together different boxes for review I came across M is for Monster and I was impressed!  What is M is for Monster? I will be happy to tell you!

M is for Monster Pre-k and Toddler boxes $32.95/month (they have combo packs if you want to buy more than one month at a time!) Have more than one Goofy Goober?! They do additional boxes at $26.95
Direct from their website:
M is for Monster is weekly educational activities that are delivered right to your door every month! No need to sit and plan and go shopping for the materials, everything you need for one months worth of activities will be shipped right to your front door!
What’s in a monster box? Each month will be different. You will get four weekly themes with 2 to 3 projects for each theme. You will also get the glue, crayons, markers, paint and all the other supplies needed for that month.

Ready to see whats in the November box?! (First I must tell you that I was EXTREMELY excited to get this box! I had seen spoilers of previous boxes from M is for Monster and I automatically knew I wanted it! )

When you open the box you see this!  (okay it looked much better but in my excitement I opened it before I took the photo so I resealed it!)

This is everything that was inside this months box!

A closer look via collage:

I must must say this box is PACKED, with FUN activities oh and have I mentioned yet their educational activities?!!!   It even came with a book! Oh My, Pumpkin Pie!

Inside each box is an instruction sheet.  It explains how to do each activity and which week it is for as well!
Seriously that right there makes life a bit easier too! I mean the works done for you, all you do is sit down with your Goofy Goobers and help them LEARN while having FUN!
(side note: While I was setting up photos my Goofy Goober pair came up and started doing the activity they were so excited!! )
This activity was find the missing letter in the sequence!  A HUGE hit for both of them!

Okay so do I think the quality/value ratio is right on this box? YES!!!!   As a homeschooling mom of 3 Goofy Goobers its hard to find the time to piece together FUN activities so something that delivers educational games to my doorstep is a HUGE winner!       The materials felt really nice.  Most are printed on card stock, so they don't feel 'cheap'  again a plus!

Learning is always more fun when its in a game style format, especially for little kids.  The fact that they got to play with putting the alphabet in the correct order today, and then play with shapes to make a scarecrow face as well, made it fun for them.  I don't think either really understood they were learning and not just having fun!

So final thoughts  on a scale from 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) this box gets a 10!
Seriously its hard to be perfect, so I will not say this box is perfect by any means, but it looks like M is for Monster will great addition to our line up!  If you want to try them out for yourself using the code new2monster will get you 10% off your first order!
Pros:  Everything you need is delivered right to your door in a box.  An entire months worth of educational activities just shows up!  A surprise in every box for your Goofy Goober!!
Cons:  The only con I have is that the age doesn't go very high!  If they had a box that carried through elementary school too that would be amazing! However I wont let that deter me from keeping our subscription to this box!

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Next up on our mini series of subscription box reviews is Citrus Lane! I bought our 3 year old and 3 month old each a subscription to try out! Citrus Lane is a very popular subscription box service, known by most parents at this point! Each month they send you age appropriate toys to play with and samples to try out! Win win right?! Lets see!
Citrus Lane $25 month
(again they do have multi-month packages as well see their website for those prices!)

Forgive me for not taking a photo of the closed box, looking back that would have been a good photo to have snapped before my Goobers colored on them! However, this is what was inside each box!
Let me give you a break down box by box!
3 year old girl box
1 Episencial BabyTime Playful Wash full sized sample!
1 Alexander Girard Color book $12.78 (Amazon)
1 happytot Super toddler bar $4.20 (Amazon)
1 Julep brand nail polish $11.00 (Amazon)
1 Fancy Prancy Dancer Doll $13.95 (Amazon)
3 month old boy box
1 Skip*Hop Chime ball $9.00 (Amazon)
1 Julep brand nail polish $11.00 (Amazon)
1 Episencial BabyTime Playful Wash sample
1 Charley Harpers 123s $7.99 (Amazon)
1 twin pack sample of Dr. Smiths Diaper Rash Ointment

My review!
I thought for what I paid for each box ( I used a coupon, and paid $12.50 for 1 and the normal $25 for the other) I got a good deal!  In fact, I only canceled this subscription to see what other companies similar to Citrus Lane offered before making my final choice on which to keep!  Everything was natural products which again is a huge bonus especially with kiddos! The Playful Wash is chemical and sulfate free and made from mostly organic and all natural ingredients, I used it for our Goofy Goobers bath that night (one entire tube to be exact) and they liked everything about it except that it didn't make a lot of bubbles.  The Julep nail polish is is "4-free" and does not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, or DBP.   Which is an added bonus for mom I think. The board books were very much modern art books.  Each is very colorful which helps keep mini Goobers attention, again added bonus! Our 3 yr old Goober was so excited to see a doll in her box, nothing else mattered except that doll to her!

So final thoughts on a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) I give Citrus Lane an 8.

Pros: Age appropriate boxes.  If you have an advanced child it may be best to raise the age of the box your signing up for!  Some toys and products in the box may seem too simple so just a heads up on that one!  This months box was natural products which again in this house is always a very welcomed thing!
Cons: At $25/month it may seem pricey to some parents.  Its a choice to make if you decide to subscribe to Citrus Lane.  Some months may be better than others like any other monthly box service, however I feel it may be work the risk to get a monthly 'treat' in the mail for your Goofy Goober.

The quality/value ratio for this box was really good.  Each Goober are enjoying their toys still today.  The fact that all this was pieced together and just mailed right to my door was very nice! I would have spent much more having driven to the store to buy all the items! At $25/month it may be pricey for some, but I plan to cut out that much a month someplace else if we continue again with Citrus Lane.
