Lets talk ABC's and 123's
Its time to tell you about my experience with Time4Learning! As you may or may not know I am a homeschooling mom to our Goofy Goobers. It is a personal choice and is not right for every family but for ours it is the perfect choice! We started looking for a program to use when our oldest Goober was almost ready to start kindergarten. I read a lot of reviews on boxed curriculum packages and other online resources, and most of them all mentioned Time4Learning.com which is when I decided to head on over and check them out!
At first glance the sample lessons look like mini games which of course peaked oldest Goofy Goobers interest! After looking over the sample lessons on a few subjects we both agreed she would like this is as her 'school' actually I believe her exact words were " I want the mouse to be my teacher!" She breezed through kindergarten and here we are a year later in first grade still on Time4Learning!
Does she get burned out on it? Yes. Would she get burned out in public school? Probably, what kid doesn't at some point right?!
I have found some of the lessons are a bit advanced for her development level, yes my Goofy Goober is a bit slower than others in some areas which is a reason why I LOVE Time4Learning. Ready for this? If your child is doing a subject and it is too difficult for them OR too easy even, you have the ability to go down a grade or advance a grade level in a subject! Wow right?! They don't have to struggle with it because they aren't ready for whats being covered, or at the same time if they already know it, they can move on to something that will challenge them!
We use Time4Learning as our main curriculum, although we toss in added worksheets, art projects etc. that she is interested in just to try to keep learning fun and exciting.
Would I recommend this program to other parents? Yes, and I have many times! You do NOT have to be a homeschooling parent to use this! It can be an addition to public school for after school or use it on sick days. It would be perfect for keeping up with skills learned or even getting ahead during the summer too! Right now its $19.95 a month for grades PK- 8, and $30 a month for High School for what they learn I feel its worth the price. Oh I forgot to tell you, if you have siblings enrolled (like my Goofy Goobers) the price for each additional child is $14.95! You can cancel your membership at any time too, so if you feel its not the perfect fit for your own Goofy Goobers you're free to cancel and find what does work for you!
PROS: Its easy to use! It keeps kids attention (which with a child with ADHD this is a HUGE bonus) The ability to customize the grade level if a subject is too hard or easy has been very nice. Plus they just added a High School levels now too! Now I can't predict where we will be when our Goofy Goobers are in those grade levels, but I think I would come back to this if nothing else than to help them retain what they've learned already at that point!
The fact you can pay monthly is very nice as well, you don't have to prepay for an entire year and hope your child will enjoy it all year long! If you find you or your child no longer like it, you're able to cancel!
CONS: The only real con I can find so far is she does get burned out on it. However, I don't know a single kid that will happily go to school every single day without complaining at least once in a while, ha ha!
So our final review of Time4Learning on a scale of 1-10 (1 being do NOT buy and 10 being RUN and buy) we give this an 8.
The only reason we give it an 8 is because she does get burned out but this is not the programs fault entirely! They are always improving things to make it a better place to learn!
